POLAND (Wolne Miasto Krakow) 1835 silver 1 zloty NGC MS 63

This specimen come from my personal collection and has been acquired from very reputable coin dealer Karl Stephens in early 2000. Beautiful old gold, rosy and bluish toning and proof like surfaces.

This coin will be a great addition to any serious Polish coin collection.

It is very rare coin with mintage of only 20,000 specimens, with most of them melted down after they were removed from circulation in about 1847, but not later than 1857.  Most common example still available on the current market are rarely in very good shape and rarely in high mint state condition.

The most recent graded example of this coin with similar grading, but not as nice of the toning sold in November of this year for 3600.00 PLN ($1,100.00) plus auction fees.

After incorporation into Austria of WMK in 1846 years the only valid means of payment was Austrian money. All other coins were released for circulation by the end of 1847 years on the list though fixing the exchange rate of Polish coins, coins of the WMK omitted. Coins could theoretically remain in circulation for 1857

The Free, Independent, and Strictly Neutral City of Kraków^[1] (Cracow) with its Territory (Polish: Wolne, Niepodległe i Ściśle Neutralne Miasto Kraków z Okręgiem), more commonly known as either the Free City of Kraków or Republic of Kraków (Polish: Rzeczpospolita Krakowska, German: Republik Krakau), was a city-state created by the Congress of Vienna in 1815, and controlled by its three neighbours (Russia, Prussia, and Austria) until 1846, when in the aftermath of the unsuccessful Kraków Uprising it was annexed by the Austrian Empire. It was a remnant of the Duchy of Warsaw partitioned between the three states in 1815.

Wszystkie pozostałe monety dopuszczono do obiegu do końca 1847 roku choć w wykazie ustalającym kurs monet polskich pominięto monety WMK. Monety teoretycznie mogły pozostawać w obiegu do roku 1857
