POLAND unique one sided pattern of 1831 Revolutionary 3 grosze in choice XF/AU

This coin has been obtained for my personal collection many years ago (November 2000) from Emporium Hamburg in Germany (auction 44, lot 1073). This is the only known example of this copper coin one side striking and has been offered for sale only once before in the last 11 years.  This coin is unlisted in most catalogs and is only mentioned in the most detailed works on Polish numismatics. This particular unique coin pattern in similar to Krause Pn 170, but is one sided.

This coin will be a great addition to any serious Polish coin collection.

Regular striking of this coin is noted as Krause as C-120, Kopicki 2745, Fisher 048, Parahimowicz 1055 and Hutten-Czapski 3664.

This is nicely toned 25.5 mm silver coin weighing 8.52 grams with a reeded edge. The strike is average (in depth) as most of the regular 1831 3 grosze business strike examples.

The November Uprising (1830–31), Polish–Russian War 1830–31^[2] also known as the Cadet Revolution, was an armed rebellion in the heartland of partitioned Poland against the Russian Empire. The uprising began on 29 November 1830 in Warsaw when the young Polish officers from the local Army of the Congress Poland's military academy revolted, led by lieutenant Piotr Wysocki. They were soon joined by large segments of Polish society, and the insurrection spread to the territories of Lithuania, Western Belarus, and the right-bank of Ukraine. Despite some local successes, the uprising was eventually crushed by a numerically superior Imperial Russian Army under Ivan Paskevich.^[3][4][5]
