Folks. Offered is an absolutely terrific item of German States, Westphalia 1923 Notgeld (money in hard times or, Inflation coinage). It is a one (1) Billion (1B) Mark coin bearing on its obverse the head of Napolean era Prussian Minister Baron vom Stein, "Germany's Leader in Difficult Times." (1757-1831). The reverse features the white horse of Westphalia over the 1923 date with the caption Emergency Coinage of the Province of Westphalia. The coin is made of a silvery alloy (copper, nickel, zinc) called, in German, "Neusilber." I understand this coin was released only after the end of German hyper-inflation and that it is very difficult to find (I believe it is currently the only one of its kind being offered on EBay).
Scan 3 shows you a US Peace silver dollar to give you an idea of relative size. The Peace silver dollar is NOT part of this offering but, as a bonus, if the final price of this listing reaches $575 or above, I will include it in the package sent to the winning bidder.
Interestingly, the custom holder this comes in (and in which I will ship this coin for additional protection) says 1,000,000,000,000 Marks (which is 1 Trillion -- see Scans 4 and 5). I understand that the German Billion is equivalent to the American Trillion. If so, this would explain why the holder has 12 zeros.
My grade on this is Extremely Fine with some very light spots and very light rubbing. Please use the scans to help you evaluate my condition description. Also, take a good look at the very bold details on this coin, especially on the horse.
S/H/I is FREE on this one. Overseas bidders, this one must be insured at full final value and you will incur the cost of shipping this via Insured Priority International Mail. Also, there are locations in the world where this type of material might be prohibited from shipment. Please write me before bidding to determine the possibilities for your area. Also, I invite you to check my feedback record as well as my other listings.
