Spyderco CPM M4 Mule MT02P Carbon Fiber, Sheath, Custom

Up for auction is a New Customized Spyderco Mule in CPM M4 tool steel.

I bought this knife and modified it for myself. I have done a few others for friends and really enjoying customizing these Mules. I desired to make this a workshop workhorse but I never got around to really using it in the shop... its just too nice. I have a Benchmade Mini-Ruckus for beating on in the shop anyways... so, this one is up for grabs. This knife is awesome. It comes in the original box.

I started with a factory fresh Spyderco MT02P CPM M4 Mule and added the following:

• THICK Carbon Fiber Scales- gives roughly the hand feel of a box cutter. I made this knife for myself to be an upscale utility knife.
• "Bobtailed" the rear of the handle and removed the rear 3/8" of the knife to shorten up the handle a bit and make it easier to carry.
• Blue liners were added.
• Stainless pins and tubing
• Custom Kydex sheath with Tec-lock with multiple mounting options. Added a large lanyard tube hole, with brushed finish on the inside.
• 550 Para-cord lanyard.
• Hand sanded CF to 1600 grit for a glassy appearance.

Disclaimer: This knife isn't perfect but it is probably 95%... and I want to disclose the other 5% so you know exactly what you are getting. This is a custom knife, made by me in my garage. First off the CF is flawless, no gaps or voids, it was created for the aerospace industry and is the best stuff I have ever used. However, there are a few areas of the knife you do need to look at. First, when epoxying the scales to the blank, I used tape to protect myself from the edge. Well, somewhere along the tape left a few lines that "stained" the M4 tool steel, and I couldn't buff them out (look closely at the pics and you will see it). This is pretty typical for M4 to tarnish easily, it is a super steel but it isn't stainless, it is a tool steel. Second, sometime during the build up the edge got a chip in it. I have worked out the chip with my EDGE PRO sharpener and you wouldn't know it was there if I didn't tell you, but I want the buyer to know it is not a factory edge... the knife has been sharpened. Also, the sheath has 100% retention but the knife rattles just a bit when in the sheath. Other than that this knife is AMAZING. There isn't another like it in the world.
