German cobalt blue porcelain coin 50 pf Hohr

Germany and Austria were spiraling into hyperinflation and produced immense quantities of interesting diverse currency and coinage, both at the state and national level. For coinage, Germany experimented with all kinds of materials not usually used for coinage: aluminum, steel, porcelain, coal, and more. Meissen of course played to their strengths and manufactured porcelain coins for whoever commissioned them.   However, there were other porcelain manufacturers, although they produced far fewer coins and medals than the prolific Meissen factory.   This coin was not manufactured by Meissen, and was for the town of Hohr.  Definitely harder to find!!

28mm. Is somewhat thicker than most porcelain coins.  Really interesting cobalt blue glazing.
